Local shell

TermZ runs your local shell in a fast, true-color (24-bit) WebGL terminal, so it doubles as your everyday terminal emulator — not just a connection manager for remote hosts.

A local-shell session gets everything a remote session does:

  • The same tabs and split panes for working across shells side by side.
  • The same session logging, so local work is captured to disk when you want it.
  • The same themes and keyword highlighting.

Start one from a new session and choose Local shell, and you’re in your own shell immediately — no host, port, or credentials to fill in.
